Stuff the Backpack 2011 was a great success!
254 children received a backpack complete with school supplies at the annual BCDM "Stuff the Backpack" event, held on August 19th at St. Timothy's Catholic Church!! In addition, 62 children received free haircuts from the Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers students. Another 76 children had their fingerprints and DNA samples collected by Craig Damon and Rick Meuse with the San Antonio PoliceDepartment. McGruff even paid the kids a special visit! A big THANK YOU to all our volunteers who came out to help sutff the backpacks AND the Board members, and individuals who donated supplies, backpacks and money for this project!!!!!

Gets New Furniture
Many thanks to Dynapac USA, Inc., and to Gary Gates for their generous donation of furniture and time. Our lobby and conference room look so much more professional!!
Dynapac USA, Inc. has generously donated new conference table, and 16 black swivel leather (very comfortable) chairs, as well as a whole new set of lobby furniture to BCDM! New BCDM Board member Peter Doemel, Vice-President, and President, Bruce Truesdale, were responsible for this unexpected gift, and Peter made arrangements with Gary Gates with Gates Machine and Fabrication, Inc. to deliver the furniture at no charge.

"Suit for Success" 2010
May 10 and 17
|
"Suit for Success" prepares the formerly incarcerated for the upcoming job fair scheduled for May 19, 2010 and for finding gainful employment.
Thank you to Second Looks, Men's Resale Clothing Store. Second Looks located at 1804 Nacogdoches Road, 78209, has generously donated hundreds of slacks, shirts, ties, jackets and suits to the BCDM clothes closet for the past two years. These designer and upscale clothing items assist BCDM staff in appropriately outfitting our clients for job fairs and job interviews. Many thanks to John Harris and staff for helping us keep our male clients well dressed as they attempt to reenter the workforce.
Thank you to Innovative Hair Designs, hair stylists Rick Torres (owner), and Pauline Quintanilla for donating their time and providing hair cuts and styles for our clients.

Fundraiser at Casbeers, April 8th
BCDM staff, volunteers, friends & supporters gathered at Casbeers at the Church for an evening of food, music & fun. Mark Odom, guitarist, volunteered his time to provide the entertainment! Some of us interrupted the Harp and Shamrock Society's meeting upstairs and got a tour of the haunted sanctuary! Many thanks to Barbara Wolfe & Steve Silbas for allowing us to hold a fundraiser at Casbeers!
