VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!!!

 

Bexar County Detention Ministries, Inc., a local interfaith non-profit organization, is in need of volunteers to facilitate worship services and Bible study, or to engage in one-on-one pastoral and spiritual counseling to residents of the Laurel Ridge Treatment facility. Laurel Ridge is a psychiatric treatment facility in far northeast San Antonio off Loop 1604.  Volunteer services are needed on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., but 2-hour shifts are available.  Training and ongoing support will be provided. Volunteer opportunities within Bexar County Detention Ministries:

 

 

1.                 One-on-one mentors: Mentors are needed to work with adults and juveniles who are incarcerated, and upon their release.  Mentors are also needed to work with the children of incarcerated parents.

 

2.                 Pastoral Ministers:  Volunteers are needed to assist BCDM and Chaplains with facilitation of support groups, classes, Bible study, faith-based retreats, and worship services in facilities, and at the Family Renewal Center.

 

3.                 Clerical Aides:  Volunteers are needed to provide clerical assistance to the Job Search program, and in the Family Renewal Center.

 

4.                 Special Events:  Volunteers are needed to help with planning, coordination, and set up required for special events and fund-raising.

 

5.                 Clothes Closet/Food Pantry:  Volunteers are needed to assist with folding and arranging clothes, stocking the food pantry, and manning the closet/pantry.
